SME Marketing
Consider a few facts about small and medium enterprises (SMEs):
1.Most SMEs don’t market themselves enough. (The urgent always seems to get in the way of the important).
2.Most SMEs think they can’t afford to hire specialist marketers.
3. Most SMEs have difficulty explaining clearly the products and services they sell. (They don’t know how to bring out the points that prospects want to know).
4.Most SMEs are inconsistent in their communications. (Mixed messages, inconsistent timing, sloppy branding will all cost you in the long run).
5.Most SMEs cut corners with marketing and do things on the cheap. (You’d probably think twice about letting your neighbour’s kid fix the brakes on your new car, so why would you let him or her build a website for your business?)
6.Most SMEs don’t have a marketing communications strategy or plan.
7.Most SMEs give up quickly if a marketing activity doesn’t immediately set the cash registers ringing. (Yes, it’s important to evaluate activities and realign them if necessary, but you need to give them a fair chance first.)
8.Most SMEs market at the wrong times. (They market when things go quiet, and then stop when business picks up, which only makes things go quiet again).
